Ravi Teja’s much-talked-about action entertainer Mass Jathara finally hit the screens today. Despite the actor’s strong belief in the film and Rajendra Prasad’s bold statement that he would quit acting if the movie failed, the end result is rather disappointing.
Story:
Lakshman Bheri (Ravi Teja), a Railway Police officer, is transferred to a remote region in Andhra Pradesh where ganja smuggling runs rampant. Determined to clean up the area, he locks horns with the ruthless smuggler Shivudu (Naveen Chandra). Meanwhile, Tulasi (Sreeleela), a government teacher with a secret past, adds a romantic angle to the narrative.
Performances:
Ravi Teja once again dons the cop uniform and delivers his usual high-energy performance. Sreeleela looks charming but has little to do beyond being the love interest. Naveen Chandra surprises with his solid villain act, while Rajendra Prasad’s character feels unnecessary until the climax.
Technical Aspects:
The visuals and production design are top-notch, and Bheems Ceciroleo’s background score adds punch to the action scenes. However, the songs are average, and the editing feels inconsistent, especially in the second half.
Highlights:
Ravi Teja’s energy
Unique lizard-based fight scene
Drawbacks:
Predictable story
Weak emotional depth
Comedy falls flat
Verdict:
Mass Jathara tries to be a typical mass entertainer but ends up repeating every familiar trope. While Ravi Teja’s performance and a few action sequences work, the film lacks freshness and emotional impact. It’s a one-time watch for hardcore Ravi Teja fans.
Bottom Line: A routine mass film that runs out of energy midway.
