North Korea on Tuesday launched cruise missiles toward islands near its coast from a warship, in response to the annual joint military drills conducted by the United States and South Korea. The missile tests were reportedly observed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un along with his 13-year-old daughter Kim Ju Ae, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Kim Jong Un emphasized that the missile tests were conducted to deter potential nuclear threats against North Korea. He stated that the exercises were aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities and demonstrating its military readiness. The development comes amid rising tensions in the region due to the ongoing US–South Korea military exercises.
