The Telangana School Education Department will conduct the TG-TET 2026 in computer-based mode from January 3 to 31. The official notification will be released on November 14, and registrations will be open on schooledu.telangana.gov.in between November 15 and 29. The State government has amended Rule 12 in GO MS 36 to make it mandatory for all in-service teachers working in government and local-body schools to appear for either the State or Central TET.
Previously, teachers appointed before the NCTE notification dated August 23, 2010 enjoyed exemptions. Under the new order, Secondary Grade Teachers and LFL headmasters who hold both DElEd and BEd qualifications must take TET Paper-I, while school assistants, language pandits, and high-school headmasters must appear for Paper-II. The amendment follows a recent Supreme Court directive requiring all teachers except those with less than five years of service to clear the TET within two years to retain their jobs; teachers with under five years of service must pass the TET to be eligible for promotions.
