Electricity consumption in Telangana has reached a new record. The state’s power utilities supplied 341.08 million units (MU) of electricity in a single day, marking the highest-ever supply in the history of the state. On March 13, 2026, at 11:17 AM, the state successfully met a peak demand of 18,228 megawatts, ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the high-demand period. On the same day, electricity consumption in the state touched an all-time high, surpassing the previous record of 335.19 million units recorded on March 18, 2025. Similarly, the peak demand of 18,228 megawatts exceeded the earlier highest demand of 17,162 megawatts recorded on March 20, 2025.
Officials stated that the rise in temperatures and increased agricultural requirements significantly contributed to the surge in electricity demand and peak load across the state. Despite the higher demand, power utilities coordinated effectively to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. Authorities noted that this achievement reflects the strong capacity and efficiency of the state’s power infrastructure.
Keeping in view the growing electricity needs in the coming days, the state’s power utilities are further strengthening their systems and infrastructure. Telangana is well prepared to handle over 350 million units of electricity demand per day and a peak load of around 19,000 megawatts. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka congratulated the staff of all power utilities across the state for successfully maintaining continuous electricity supply during the period of high demand.
