Several major information technology companies in India, including Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Cognizant, have issued important instructions to their employees due to the shortage of commercial LPG gas. As the supply of LPG has been affected across the country, companies have decided to limit food services in their office canteens and advised employees to bring meals from home.
The impact is clearly visible in several technology campuses in cities like Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai. Many companies have reduced their canteen menus significantly and temporarily closed live food counters that serve items like dosa and omelette. According to reports, basic meals such as rice and dal are being served in some campuses. The shortage is believed to be linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have affected LPG imports and forced authorities to prioritise domestic household supply.
